Lorna Jane Review - Mod Squad Tights and Tanika Bra

I received my Lorna Jane package today! I was really excited about this package. I ordered the Mod Squad 7/8 Tights and the Tanika Bra:

The Mod Squad 7/8 Tights were released on the last day of their 2 for 20% off promotion. I  love, love, LOVE these Mod Squad 7/8 Tights. Not only is the print super cute, I really like the color pallet. I probably didn't "need" the bra but wanted to take advantage of the 20% promotion....it makes the brand a little more affordable. They also were restocked the Tanika Bra so I picked that one up too so I could use the promotion.  I got the crops for $71.99 and the bra from $50.39...much better than the original prices. I would say Lorna Jane's prices are comparable to Lululemon's.

I ended up ordering a size small based off of their size chart. This is my first pair of Lorna Jane leggings so I was crossing my fingers that the size was right.

I really liked the crops when I pulled them out of the packaging. I also really appreciate that Lorna Jane uses really nice materials. I could instantly tell that the material was thick and soft.

The Mod Squad 7/8 Tights were made for more agile workouts like running and crossfit. There is reinforced vertical stitching on the rear and an internal infinity drawstring around the waist. I also like that the logo is discrete and on the front hip.

I was a little bummed that there was no internal or external pocket. I kept checking them over and over to see if I missed it somehow.....but, unfortunately, there is no pocket.

Since there are not a lot of Lorna Jane stores in the U.S., I included a close up of the hang tag.

Not a single complaint on the material and fit. They fit really well.....not too tight and not too loose. There was enough compression in the back for heavy workouts, and the material did not show panty lines or lumps/bumps.

The pattern was a little more muted than I was expecting, but it was just as gorgeous in person as online! I really love all the purples with the yellow, grey, and black!

I busted out a few Lululemon Cool Racerbacks to give you an idea of the colors used in the pattern.

Clockwise, from top left: Bruised Berry, Power Purple, Ultra Violet, Grapeseed, Clarity Yellow, and Pretty Purple.

For a great weight lifting outfit, I've thrown together a few of my favoites:

Clockwise, from top left: Lululemon Ribbed Cool Racerback in Clarity Yellow , Lululemon Ebb to Bra in Heathered Black, Goodys' Skinny Black Headbands, Brooks Pureflow Running Shoes in Black, and Lorna Jane Mod Squad 7/8 Tights.

I really love these leggings! Purple is one of my favorite colors so I will have a ton of tops I can wear these with. I can't wait to wear these to the gym!

If you missed out on the Mod Squad 7/8 Tights, no worries! I have seen a LOT of Lorna Jane items restocked so be patient and keep an eye out. I also saw that their Australia site got the full length leggings so that will be another option too!

My other item is the Tanika Bra in Seychelles. I have been eyeing this bra for awhile so I was really happy to see it restocked. Like my other bras, I ordered a size small.

I thought the color of this bra would be similar to Lululemon's Fresh Teal, but it looks closer to Bali Breeze. I'm glad it's not a 100% match because I already have a bra in Bali Breeze....I would say it is a shade or two lighter.

Here's a close up of the hang tag in case you were interested in the item information. Despite what the instructions say, I haven't had any issues washing my Lorna Jane Bras. I throw them in a delicates bag and wash them with my other sports bras in the wash. I don't have the patience to hand wash every item and I have yet (knock on wood) to be burned by that.

I really appreciate Lorna Jane's attention to details on their bras. They always have such pretty AND functional details. I love the crossed straps in the back and the fact that they have adjustable straps. The padding is pretty amazing too.

I wanted to give you guys a comparison of Lorna Jane's bra padding compared to Lululemon's. As you can see on the left, Lorna Jane's padding is significantly thicker towards the bottom of the pad. It is not the same thickness all over like Luluelemon's (which is pretty thin). You can instantly tell Lorna Jane's padding is much nicer.

I wish we had a local Lorna Jane near me because I would be curious to swap out the bra cups. I have a smaller ribcage so I need a size small per the measurements. I'm a size D cup-wise, and I would like to see what this bra looks like with slightly larger cups. (I still need to play around with the cups in these.)

The band around the ribs feels a little looser than my April and Ella Bras. I felt like I was on the large size of a size small for those bras, but this one felt slightly more relaxed.

For a fun summer look, I mixed up my new Lorna Jane Tanika Bra with a few of my other favorite brands.

Clockwise, from top left: Lorna Jane Tanika Bra, Oisell Vertical Drop Tank in White, Lululemon Bangbuster in White, Nike Free 5.0 TR Fit 4 Breathe in Atomic Mango, and Fabletics Suva Run Short II in High Intensity Print/Purple.

I really like the Tanika Bra. I can easily see it turning into a summer favorite. It will look great with all of my loose summer tanks!

So those were my two items! I really loved them both and have been so impressed with the Lorna Jane company. I love their attention to detail and eye for beauty. Every item looks like it was well thought out throughout the design process.

Lorna Jane has came out with a lot of great goodies this month. They always have quirky prints and bright, fun colors that make me keep wanting more! They have just release some MORE items for July and have my eyes on them:

Clockwise, from top left: Mod Squad Sports Bra // Quick Step Bra // Liberty Run Short // Ditsy Heart Bra // Linear Tank

I just love the quirky prints, bright colors, and beautiful details on their garments! The July collection has some great items....this makes me even more excited for August!

If you missed out on their last promotion, they are currently running a sports bra special. Three sports bras for $135. This make them $45 each! That's a great price for high quality sports bras!

This is the SECOND time they have had a promotion on the first two sports bras I purchased! The first one was a flash sale on the Ella Bra for $33. Now the April Bra is essentially $45. I really want the Theola Bra in Ocean. I would be interested in the Pammy Bra, but there is not a third bra for me to chose from! I have the April Bra, and the Busy Working Out Bra is sold out (not that I wanted that one anyways). I don't really want a second Theola Bra so I guess I'm going to sit this one out! It's ok...there are a few other bras I'm eying, and I'll just wait for the next good deal!

What do you think of Lorna Jane? I really love their bras....MUCH better than my Lululemon. I have also been really impressed with their shorts and crops. While some of the styles with heavy logos or phrases aren't really my thing, there are several Lorna Jane items I want!

Lorna Jane has been definitely winning me over recently....especially since Lululemon's summer items have been a little "blah" lately. I'm becoming a pretty big fan!

Lorna Jane Ella and April Bras

*UPDATE - Lorna Jane buy 2 for 20% has been extended through June 27!*

Last week I took advantage of the Lorna Jane "2 Sports bras or tanks for $100" promotion. I ordered the Ella Bra in watermelon and the April Bra in cornflower. I was a little nervous about the sizing. I ordered a size small using the chart despite being a size medium in most sports bras. According to the size chart, a size medium would have been too loose around the band...but I was also worried that a size small would be too small as a cup. (I'm a 32/33 D so my sizing can be a little tricky.)

I was really excited to try the bras on when I pulled them out of packaging. The colors were nice and vibrant, and the material was high quality. Even without trying them on, I could tell that the cups used were thick and good quality.

I didn't know what shade to expect when I ordered this bra. The photo looked a little red, but the description was watermelon. It was a little in-between red and pink...it wasn't a true red but definitely what I would consider as watermelon.

The back reminded me of a cross between Lululemon's Energy Bra and Water Bound Bra. I liked that  Lorna Jane's Ella Bra had a thinner band on the back and flatter straps.

As you can see in the photo, the straps were thin and not puffy-like. I liked that they were more like ribbon. Lululemon's Energy Bra sometimes cuts into my back because of the heavy straps.

Lorna Jane Ella Bra in size small
The fit was nice for a size small. I'm really tempted to try a size medium, but I think the band would have been too loose on a larger size. (I wish we had a local store!) Even with a size small, I think the Ella Bra had good structure in the front and didn't cut into my back.

I really liked the blue in Lorna Jane's April bra. It is a really pretty, vibrant blue. The material and quality is the same as my other bra.

I was also interested in this bra because of the thin bands and pretty straps. Lorna Jane's bras have really pretty backs. I liked that you could adjust all of straps on this bra unlike the Ella Bra.

I need to play around with the sizing, but every strap is adjustable.

Lorna Jane April Bra in size small
I was a teensy bit lazy this morning and need to adjust the straps. The front is slightly twisted, but you can see there is a double strap in the front. The straps in the back laid flat without digging in. The back looks like it is a little on the high side, but that will be fixed when I play around with the strap length.

Overall, I'm really impressed with Lorna Jane's sports bras! Victoria's Secret VSX Angel Bras were my favorite, but I would say the quality is just as good. I definitely like the fit better than my Lululemon sports bras although they are a little on the pricey side. I highly recommend snatching a few of these up when they are running a promotion!

Brand Review: Lorna Jane

Last week I couldn't resist ordering the Lorna Jane Oceania Excel Tank. It's finally starting to get hot here, so I'm starting to be more attracted to flowy tops that breathe well. I was looking to exchange my top from last week's Lorna Jane review and I was attracted to the ombre colors of this tank!

The colors were just as vibrant in real life. I am a complete sucker for blue....I adore the yellow, white, teal The tank is just how I thought....a little boxy for a looser fit at the bottom.

My only "gripe" is that the material isn't that soft. It feels a little like a basketball jersey. I really love Lorna Jane...I just their prices were a tad cheaper. I feel like they are about 5-7% higher than Lululemon.

While they have a lot of stores on the West Coast, they have zero on the east coast. I have been spoiled with 5 local Lululemons in the DC area. It is hard to justify a purchase when you don't get to try it on....plus some of my favorite items have been ones I tried on in the store and wouldn't have considered by photo alone.

I do like their website. When they are running low on sizes, they provide the actual quantity of the item left. I love it when online stores do this. It gives me an idea if the item is going to sell out or not. They also keep photos of all of the items despite being sold out. This gives the customer an idea of what is in the store even if it is no longer available online.

Lorna Jane Oceania Excel Tank (size small), VSX Angel Bra in White (size 32D), Lululemon Cadet WUC

I really like this tank. It is definitely the color that is selling me. I wouldn't have kept it if it was a solid color. I think the ombre colors match a lot of great neutrals. It is a little on the shorter side, but that's preferable in the summer...I didn't want it so long it covered shorts.

Trapeze Excel Tank in Laguna Beach (size small)

I tried on my Trapeze Excel tank from last week again....it was a little twisted during the first time and  I like it much better with crops than shorts. I decided to keep both tanks!

Second order from Lorna Jane...they're a little pricey, but I like having unique items. Their quality also seems to be pretty good too. I really like their sports bras, so I'll have to try one of their bras in the near future.  I love Lululemon....but I see it everywhere in DC. It's nice to know that I won't be sharing the same outfit as the person next to me in the gym.

Brand Review: Lorna Jane

Hello fit fashionistas! I'm finally back from my little break during the week! Moving has been a little chaotic (it always is)...but I got my bathroom, bedroom, and closet done. I have a few boxes left in the living room, but I got so much done already!

Very excited to finally give my first Lorna Jane review! I have been interested in their products for months and I finally pulled the trigger! I ordered their Active Living Planner, Trapeze Excel Tank, and Run Shorts.

The Trapeze Excel Tank in Laguna Beach was a little pricey at $69.99, but it is well made. The material is nice and thick and comes with great features.

There is mesh on the inside of the tank and a large zip pocket in the back. I love using those for my credit cards and keys when I run...especially if I'm not wearing run shorts with good pockets!

I have to admit, I was thinking about returning this when it came in....mainly because it was such a pricey tank top. I didn't think I could justify keeping an athletic style top that couldn't be worn casually. I don't mind spending more money on shirts that can be worn as workout AND casual, but it's harder to justify the price if I can only wear it working out!

[Please excuse my clutter...I'll have a nice solid wall to use when my living room is finally unpacked.]

Well I decided not to return it after trying it on. The top fit really well and the color is really pretty. I put it on really quickly and I don't have a full length mirror yet, so I apologize for the tank being a little twisted in the back. For being larger chested, I think the bra offered great support and the padding was well made. I also think the back fit well. It fit well around my shoulder blades and didn't cut into my skin.

Update - I need to retake my photo. I retried it on after the first photo. It's actually a better fit than the first photo...I just don't have it pulled down all the way and it's a little twisted a the bottom. I'm still debating exchanging it for something a little versatile....despite me really liking it. I think for my more expensive items I need to full out love them.

The Run Short in Hyper Pink is the reason I made this order! For $55.99, the price is reasonable for run shorts and the color was adorable. I really wanted a bright pink pair....especially after I had to return my Lululemon Speed Shorts in Zing Pink Apex Stripe because of their black liner.

The color is adorable and I was relieved to see that the liner matched the outside. They had two side pockets in the front and another zip pocket in the back that is the perfect size for keys.

These fit like a glove. Even my husband was like "oh, I really like those." There was no whiskering in the front and the back didn't flare out too excessively. I thought they were really flattering.

I was also looking forward to trying the Active Living Planner. It was MUCH thicker than I thought it would be. For $34.99, I thought it was a little pricey until I received it. It is VERY well made. The pink has a suede-like material and there is a clear protection cover with an elastic band. The binder itself is about 1.5 inches and the paper is nice and thick.

I've been starting to get more scheduled with my weight lifting. I'm working with a friend who is a very good personal trainer. He is having me do a body-building type program. I'm not planning on competing, but we are aiming at more in between the Bikini/Figure Bodybuilding Classes. I've been on this for 3 weeks now and I'm already seeing a difference!

I adore this book! The book starts out with you identifying your goals and writing out what you would like to accomplish.

You fill out your 12 week plan, measurements, and create your own workout schedule.

For the 12 weeks, each day has two pages...which explains why this book is thick. You write down your workout, what you ate, how much water your drank, and how you felt.....I'm really looking forward to keeping track of my water since I'm sure I'm not drinking enough. The end of each week has a recap of what you accomplished.  The only thing I wish it had was a little more space for my workouts... I have a few more exercises than space.

I really like my book! I have cell issues on the metro, so I plan on using this when I'm going back and forth on the metro. Overall, I'm really impressed with my Lorna Jane items and will buying more in the future.

Have you tried Lorna Jane? I really wish there were stores on the east coast! :(
